The submission window for the Covalent Bonds anthology was extremely long, at least as far as standard WWP submissions windows go: nine months.

That was nine months of constantly refreshing my inbox and willing submissions to come in.

For about seven of those months, I broke out in a cold sweat while I stared at the inbox, because I was pretty sure I was not going to get enough submissions to make up an anthology. If that was the case, Covalent Bonds was going to end up going to the scrap heap of forgotten dreams.

Finally, in the last few months, the submissions came rolling in.

All total, we had 45 submissions for Covalent Bonds — from all over: the U.S., Canada, Finland, and the U.K. — and 13 were shortlisted, with nine ultimately being accepted.

If you’re into percentages (which is about the only type of math I’m actually capable of doing), that means 28.89% of the submissions made the shortlist. Of those, 69.2% of the shortlist made it to the anthology.

If you’d rather look at it as a whole, 20% of all submissions made it to the anthology.

Not too shabby.

I didn’t get hundreds of submissions like Rhonda Parrish’s Sirens did, but you know what, what I did get was fantastic stuff. I had to make some of the most heart-wrenching decisions in what stayed and what didn’t. So much so, I swore I’d never edit another anthology. (*rolls eyes*)

When I passed off my shortlist to fellow editor, Laura Harvey, to help me narrow down my decisions, I was pleased when she became animated and excited over these stories, too. Seeing her giddiness over the same exact stories that I loved — it either proves I did something right or we’re both crazy.

More than likely, a little of both.

This being my first anthology, I was terrified that I made the wrong decisions. Thanks to Laura’s input, I don’t think I did.

With each day that passes, I get a little more excited (and nervous) about Covalent Bonds. Honestly, though, I think you’ll end up loving it as much as I do.

How to Play:
1. Each romance-related blog post in June 2016 will include a clue at the bottom of the blog post. If you do not see the "Summer of Romance" image (above), then that blog post is not part of the scavenger hunt.

2. Collect the clues at the end of each blog post. The clues will be words chosen at random from story titles in these romance anthologies: DEMONS, IMPS, AND INCUBI edited by Laura Harvey, and THE NAUGHTY LIST edited by Cori Vidae.

3. Email all the clue words together to publisher[at]worldweaverpress[dot]com by July 7, 2016. If you've collected all of them, we will email you an exclusive coupon code for 50% off any of our romance (and romantic) titles, good in the WWP online store through the end of 2016.   • Any blog in June 2016 that contains the beachy "Summer of Romance" photo, such as the one at the top of this blog post. If you see that, you know there will be a clue. But here's a hint: this image will not always be at the top of the blog.
• Will the release day blog posts for OMEGA RISING and BITE SOMEBODY include a clue?
  • Probably. You'll just have to look at them to find out!
• When is the deadline to submit the clues?
  • July 7, 2016. Send your list of clue words to publisher[at]worldweaverpress[dot]com by midnight PST to qualify. Please send the clues all together in one email.
    
• What if I miss a clue?
  • Sorry, only entrants who collect all the clues will receive the exclusive coupon code and be entered to win the $25 Amazon Gift Card.

  • Most of them are. There's a m/m fling in one of the DEMONS IMPS AND INCUBI stories. The primary romantic subplot in FRACTURED DAYS is f/f.
• Will the coupon code be good for ebook only?
  • Nope, you could use it for a paperback. Regular shipping charges will still apply.
• Can I use the coupon code at Amazon?
  • Nope, the coupon code will only be good in the World Weaver Press online store.
• Can I share the coupon code with friends?
  • Nope, each code will be unique and good only once. That's what makes it "exclusive."
